Hungry and Homeless and Now, Out of Time

I hate to ask for donations on the internet - it seems so "scammy." But I have to do it, and I can assure you that we are legit.

To the right on the sidebar is a button that says Donate. It is for Zephyr Enterprises/Zephyr for Kids. If you click on the button it will take you to the Zephyr PayPal page. It linkes to the PayPal account for Zephyr for Kids. This organization, which is non-profit with the 501(c) pending, is designed to help homeless parents and children stay together, get back together, and get foster children out of The System bfore it's too late. We try to maintain food and shelter and the basic necessities. And we're running out of funds - and time. We're $255 short on the house downpayment.

Our ultimate goal is to raise enough money for a down payment on a HUD house, because even the so-called "family shelters" are dangerous, crawling with drug dealers, used drug paraphernalia lying around in the children's play area, alcohol everywhere. And there just isn't enough staff available, once again due to lack of funding, to have eyes everywhere. Many of the children and their parents are in dire need of family and individual counseling and parenting classes, as well as job training to get them off the hamster wheel of welfare and back into the work force as contributing members of society and instilling the confidence in the parents (moms especially) that they CAN take care of their families.

We appreciate the donations of goods (and some locals have also donated time and gas to deliver), but I am in the position now where I have to ask for cash donations as well. I imagine my children living in these shelters, and it kills me. I can only imagine what the parents living there are going through.

We even had a Bingo group who donated all proceeds, except the hall rental, to Zephyr, including the night's big winner who donated her $300 winnings. People are wonderful.

Again, all donations are tax deductible. And we're running out of time. We have til the end of business this week to make the down payment. And since I'll be in the hospital, I won't be around to help.

Thank you so much. Watching people, especially children, go to bed dirty and hungry, and sometimes bed is an abandond car, breaks my heart. But I've seen such wonderful things since this project began. People have such large hearts. Even a dollar helps. I know we can do it!
